OUR PHILOSOPHY
The WAVY COFFEE ROASTERS experience.
From encounters at origin to time in our shops and specialty coffee brewed at home, we bring new discoveries to your everyday cup.

01
Everyday life and specialty coffee, joined by a single ribbon.
The ribbon in the WAVY COFFEE ROASTERS logo expresses our wish to connect everyday life with specialty coffee.
Our specialty coffee begins with a single bean grown on a farm. Differences in the land and how it is cultivated give each bean its character. We find our beans through many routes: direct trade through visits to origin, importing ourselves, auctions, and working with trading companies. We choose each bean with care and conviction, then carry out the roasting and brewing ourselves.
One expression of this approach is WAVY Special LOT. Working alongside farms, we devote care to each lot, from harvest through processing. Produced in small quantities, these lots are exclusive to WAVY COFFEE ROASTERS worldwide. The selection changes, but the series is always part of our offering.

The sound of beans being ground, the steam rising as hot water is poured, the clear, reddish hue seen through a wine glass. Encountering unfamiliar aromas and flavors can make even a familiar scene feel a little different. Discovering each bean’s character, you choose one to suit your mood. We hope this enjoyment continues comfortably beyond special occasions—whether you are walking through town or relaxing at home.
02
Together with the people who grow our coffee.
We visit farms to experience their landscapes and the work of the people who grow our coffee. Even when we are far apart, we keep talking, thinking together about the flavours we want to share. Through these conversations, we work with farms to create our lots.

03
Flavour and sweetness, the WAVY way.
Even with the same beans, the way they are roasted can greatly change how aromas emerge and sweetness is perceived. Roasting shapes how—and to what extent—we bring out the flavours held within green coffee.
We focus on capturing each coffee’s distinctive flavour and sweetness, creating a taste that expresses WAVY COFFEE ROASTERS.
We roast on a machine made by Giesen in the Netherlands, then brew the roasted coffee ourselves to understand how it tastes in the cup. Our founder, Akinori Uehara, earned a Q Grader qualification and also serves as a judge at international roasting competitions. The perspective developed through our daily roasting and brewing also informs his work in those settings.
04
Learn more, or simply enjoy.
A favourite aroma or a touch of sweetness can spark curiosity about where a coffee comes from and the care of its producers. Learning its story and simply thinking “I like this” are both ways to enjoy it. Whatever your level of knowledge, we value your own way of enjoying specialty coffee.
